Irid Duo — Experience Design
An iridescent three-dimensional container that turns an optical phenomenon into a walkable experience — geometry, light and sustainability in one immersive module.

Irid Duo is a three-dimensional iridescent container developed with Mariuara Mattos. The project turns natural phenomena into sustainable art: a geometric module that explores the power of light and the poetry of science.
The concept sits at the intersection of geometry, light and sustainability, inspired by the solar halo and by Newton's studies on the decomposition of light. The irregular polyhedron, covered with a dichroic filter, translates the beauty of light breaking into a spectrum of colours, revealing the complexity and harmony of physical laws.

Beyond aesthetics, the filter has an ecological function: it makes transparent barriers visible to birds, preventing collisions. The system is flexible — form, scale and additional elements such as water reflections can be adapted to each budget and exhibition context.

Technically, the piece is built from flat plates connected at different angles: 8 mm translucent acrylic with dichroic film, steel or aluminium frames with visible bolted connections, 2.90 m high on a 2×2 m base, holding up to 20 people at once. Channels at the edges vaporise water for thermal comfort, while natural and artificial light generate shifting projections of colour and shadow inside the space.

The experience is extended by a smaller external sculpture with augmented and mixed reality interaction, simulating the luminous effects of the interior for visitors before they step inside.
